If you need to track costs specifically for a change order in Knowify, we have a solution for you!
After you create your change order navigate back to the Plan&Track section of the job, and click “Switch To Edit Mode” at the bottom right of the page:
Once you’re in edit mode, you can add a new job phase to track costs for a subcontractor. After you add the job phase, give it a name, and under the Associated Deliverable drop-down, select your change order. Once you’re finished, be sure to click Switch To Active Mode at the bottom of the page:
This will help you track costs and run reports for your change order, since you can now allocate labor and materials to this job phase.
Budget/Mark-Up Change Order Cost
You can also use this process to budget your costs for a change order and/or markup your costs to price out your change order.
- Create your change order in the contract, but click Save As Draft with the price still at $0
- Navigate back to the Plan&Track section and follow the steps above to create a job phase that is pointing to the change order
- While in Edit Mode, use the job phase to estimate labor/materials costs
4. Save your changes in the Plan&Track section then navigate back to the contract to apply a markup to the budgeted costs
